Andrew Daddo
Andrew Daddo has been part of the Australian media landscape since the 1980s (as in last century), appearing on TV, radio and even the odd film. He’s also a podcaster about golf and a bit of parenting with the Mamamia network. Best of all, he’s the author of more than 30 books with ages ranging from picture book to young adult fiction. His latest series Bitza – about a lost dog and the girl who takes him in – is his favourite series so far. He loves working with illustrators such as Stephen Michael King and Jon Bentley, and has a stack of stories to tell.
PRESENTATION ONE
Bitza – Bits of This and That from a Writing Life
Andrew Daddo will discuss his writing life (30 or so books), including picture books like Goodnight Me, Cheeky Monkey, Fart Face and Poo Face; collections of short stories in the Sprung series; a kid pirate called Atticus; and probably best of all, Bitza. His new series is about a Bitza dog finding a new forever home with Jas – a bit of a bitza herself. Andrew will talk about idea creation, humour, writing to an audience and the true joy of books over just about anything else. It’s funny and a little surprising. Lots of time for questions.
